Welcome to the Queer Joy Research Hub

Dominant narratives about 2SLGBTQ+ communities focus on how our lives are marked by depair and tragedy. While there are serious struggles 2SLGBTQ+ communities endure, many of us have found immense joy in sexual, romantic, and platonic relationships with other 2SLGBTQ+ people, not to mention refuge from cis-heterosexuality (and its gendered violence).

The Queer Sexual Joy Project, a collaboration with Egale Canada, has now wrapped. This project aimed to better understand 2SLGBTQ+ people's experiences of sexual joy, as well as how to best promote sexual health and reduce gendered violence through education, particularly via understanding of consent. Reports and a zine can be found here. Other publications including academic papers are listed on www.jessica-wright.ca

A new, SSHRC-funded study titled The Queer Joy! Project has commenced which is investigating queer and trans joy as resistance to gender-based violence and rising hate. Register for an upcoming workshop to make art and community using the "Registration" tab of the site.

To keep updated on this project and other related research, please feel free to connect on social media and sign up for the Queer Joy listerv on the "Listerv" tab.

Thanks for your interest in the research.
